The Equalizer Magazine

Brief: The Equalizer Magazine is a quarterly magazine created by Equal Education (EE). EE is a community-based organisation operating out of the township of Khayelitsha, 30 KM outside of Cape Town. They are working to bring about quality and equality in the South African Education system.


The Equalizer is created for EE's members who are predominantly high school students from poor and working class areas. The magazine aims to educate students about their rights, the education system, and the progress of the various campaigns that they, through their membership with EE, are involved in.


This edition was launched on the day of a huge student march to parliament attended by 20 000 people. Envelopes containing the magazine and a badge were handed at out the train station before students went home.
