Chocolate Boxes

Below are images collected from different sources online that show the variety of packaging that can be designed for chocolate and chocolate related products. The images show some ethical approaches, with what seems like environmentally friendly stocks and inks used, whilst at the same time some bright and bold designs with lots of colour and strong visual aesthetics. Personally my favourite approach can be found on the fourth page. I like the use of white space combined with splashes of colour, found in quite retro looking shapes and fonts. I like the minimal approach and the idea that the design does not have to be incredibly complex and jarring to the eye, just simple and effective.

Packaging

I brain stormed a few ideas for what my DVD could be packaged in, with my favourite two approaches being either a traditional American mailbox or indeed a box of chocolates. After thinking about the logistics, and how much more difficult it would be to create a rounded top required for the mailbox, I thought it easier to go with the chocolate box idea. Below is the inspiration for my packaging. Obviously there are strong connotations with the idea and the film itself, so much so that it has been used for a special edition release, image below.
